HDR
Posted in General, Photography on July 31st, 2008 by Ethan HSo I got my hands on a copy of Photomatix (thank you Mike) and I must say, it is a really great program. It takes a image taken at multiple exposures and blends it together into one stunning HDR image. Of course, each image takes a little bit of tweaking until they look great, but the results are amazing. Once I get them uploaded I will post a couple of images here. This post will update with new HDRs as I render them. Hit “Read More” to see the images. It is all a matter of picking the right image, some work and some…well they don’t work too well.

New (well, used) film camera!
Posted in General, Photography on July 30th, 2008 by Ethan HWell I went ahead and ordered a used Canon EOS Elan 7n 35mm SLR from a member of Photography on the Net, a great source for photo help! The camera will take all my EF lenses (it just won’t take my 18-55mm which is fine and dandy because I don’t use that lens). I will post up pictures of the camera now and when I get it (hopefully Friday definatly by Monday).
HDR You Blow My Mind
Posted in General, Photography on July 28th, 2008 by Ethan HI just tried out an HDR render with the popular application Photomatix and I must say the results are amazing. The photo after the jump is a photo from the horse show Mike and I shot and is a composite of 12 different exposures. I think it came out quite well. What does everybody think of it? A quick note to those looking through the horse show photos when they are up, this will be included in the Misc. gallery, but the original photo, not the edit. If there is enough want for this photo, I will put it up.

I’ve been thinking
Posted in Uncategorized on July 26th, 2008 by Ethan HI’ve been shooting digital for a while now, and I have had my XTi for some time and I am quite satisfied with it. But I want to try film again, and using my own lenses. So it got me thinking, I want to purchase a film SLR for myself. I have heard iffy things about the Canon Rebel series, but very good things about the Canon EOS Elan series, especially the Elan 7. On KEH Camera, I can find one for 140 like new and it is compatible with my lenses (though I probably don’t want to put the 10-20mm on it or I will have some serious vignetting). But before I take the plunge, I want some advice. Those of you who have shot film SLRs before, what do you think about the EOS Elan 7? From what I have read, it is a great camera for someone like me, not a complete n00b, but defiantly not a pro

Comcast Sucks
Posted in General on July 25th, 2008 by Ethan HSo, according to both Gizmodo and the NY Times, if you write on your personal website or blog “COMCAST SUCKS” and give a reason for your hating Comcast, the dedicated team (read: one guy) of Comcast internet surfers will FIND your blog and personally respond to you.
Remember kids, big brother is watching! What are your thoughts on Comcast?
*note* I have Verizon, not Comcast
Photos from Kimballs
Posted in General, Photography on July 25th, 2008 by Ethan HAs some of you may know, I work at Kimball Farm at the bumper boats. Its not that bad of a job, though sometimes the hours suck a little (I also apologize for the spelling and such, I have a pulled muscle in my left arm which I got from pull starting so many boats). I’m not saying my job sucks, but it does have its downsides. The pay is not really so great, starting off at eight bucks an hour, but you work pretty long shifts so that counters it. You deal with the general public and you get many a corporate party coming it. Sometimes, it just becomes too crazy and you find yourself dealing with what seems like a billion problems at once, each more important than the last. Some days its good, some days not so much. But people sure do love them bumper boats.
Since there are few “landmarks” in Westford, Kimballs is one of few great place to photograph, and some examples are right after the jump. The full gallery link is http://www.ethanhansenphoto.com/galleries/kimballs/
